Art and history between the Milan Charterhouse and Villa Scheibler

Musocco is developed in a territory formerly characterised by large agricultural estates, cultivated with vines, and scattered farmsteads in an area rich in water and woodland called Bosco della Merlata.

Nearby one of the most historically important buildings was built. The Milan Charterhouse or Garegnano Charterhouse, a monastery of the Carthusian order founded in 1349 and decorated with precious frescoes by Crespi and Peterzano.

Not far away, in Vialba, is villa Scheibler, an ancient mansion dating back to the second half of the 15th century. The villa, originally a hunting lodge owned by Ludovico Sforza, towards the end of the 19th century became a sumptuous country residence, with a large park, of the Counts Scheibler.

Places of historical interest in Musocco include Villapizzone with the village, the church of San Martino and the villa Radice Fossati.

Following the inauguration in 1858 of the Musocco railway station on the Milan-Turin route, the municipality took on strategic importance due to its location and experienced such industrial and urban development that it became the hub of the area to the north-west of Milan.
